Release calendars
Steam windows, delayed gold masters, and console-first dates that still have no PC listing. We log what a publisher named, when the store page moved, and whether a preload actually opened — not after a rumour thread.
PC launches keep their own timetable: a Steam build can land overnight, a console title can skip Windows for a year, and a live service can ship three hotfixes in a week. Patchwire reads publisher blogs, Steam changelogs, and in-client notes after they go live. We are a news desk in Auckland, not a studio or a store. If a listed date slips, send the source and we will check the post before this page moves.
What we cover
Steam windows, delayed gold masters, and console-first dates that still have no PC listing. We log what a publisher named, when the store page moved, and whether a preload actually opened — not after a rumour thread.
Week-to-week reads on live titles: which balance line hit the client, which crash fix landed on Steam, and whether a limited event was still listed after the weekend maintenance window.
Expansion calendars, roadmap posts, and hotfix lines we can confirm. A leak stays marked as unconfirmed until a Steam news post or a studio blog names it, then the page is updated that same evening.
On the wire
A readout after Rockstar named 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, with pre-orders from 25 June 2026. We compared that post with the Steam store, noted that Windows is still unlisted, and wrote a morning wrap for anyone who skipped the publisher blog.
A mid-year recap of Capcom’s 27 February 2026 PC date for Resident Evil Requiem, back in Raccoon City. We checked the Steam listing, compared it with the console window, and wrote what the store page actually named — no forecast, just the day that held that week.
Two same-day Steam windows: Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV and Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter on 17 September 2026. The piece lists which store pages went gold, which preload notes appeared, and which nearby titles — Silent Hill: Townfall and Control Resonant on 24 September — still sat on the same week’s board.
The desk
Patchwire started as a shared chat after maintenance windows and still works that way: two people on a live build, one editor on the report, and copy that goes up after a changelog is confirmed. We cover computer games first — Steam launches, expansion days, and hotfix posts studios put on the record. The aim is a readable file, not a paid rank boost or a store pitch, so you can see what changed in the build and what the next listed window has named.
Next window
We reply within one working day if we can queue it, if we need a build number, or if we will write from a confirmed Steam news post instead of a leak thread. Notes about delayed gold masters and returning expansions are welcome; we still check them before publishing.
